Daniher or Danger? Dal runs the rule over the two

2017-10-06T14:15+11:00

Exciting Essendon forward Joe Daniher and Geelong champion Patrick Dangerfield are two bonafide stars of the AFL who every club would love to have in their ranks.

But if you had to select one who would you prefer?

Former St Kilda and North Melbourne midfielder Nick Dal Santo would chose Daniher over Dangerfield if he had the choice between the two.

The discussion arose on SEN Breakfast this morning after Daniher and Dangerfield both took out their respective club best and fairest awards last night.

Dal Santo says the upside of the 23-year-old is enormous after enjoying a career best season booting 65 goals.

“I would have to go Daniher,” he said.

“I think Dangerfield is the second best player in the league behind Dustin Martin.

“Joe Daniher was fantastic this year and was an All-Australian. He has another ten years coming up and is only going to get better. I think you have to play the long lasting blue chip investment and go with Daniher.

“He takes pack marks on the lead, gets up the ground and people have likened him to Lance Franklin. He (Franklin) almost plays as a midfielder opposed to Daniher being a ruckman. Daniher is a better mark; he took Mark of the Year.

“If it’s a long term investment, then I’m going Daniher."

It was Daniher’s first Crichton Medal, while Dangerfield claimed back-to-back Carji Greeves Medals, becoming just the 12th Cats player to achieve the feat.
