Former Socceroo Craig Foster says the time is right for him to succeed Steven Lowy as the chairman of Football Federation Australia.
After outlining his vision of the game at last night’s FFA board forum, the SBS commentator has firmed as the people’s favourite to chair the newly-assembled board ahead of fellow candidates Joseph Carrozzi, Chris Nikou and Mark Rendell.
Foster believes his football nous and deep lying passion for the game is what’s required to fulfil the role adequately.

“I’m ready,” Foster told SEN Afternoons.
“The reason being is I’ve played a number of roles within the game and I was the chair of the Players’ Association a few years ago and I know that’s what the game needs right now.
“We need someone who can represent us internationally as well but we need someone there who’s strong for the whole of the game and that’s what actually worries me.
“I’ve stepped forward and made it clear to everyone that I want to chair the game because we don’t need just a chair of that board, we don’t need someone just to manage the board room and that’s it.
“We need someone to articulate a vision to the country, we need someone who can speak to our community and we need someone who can bring us all together.
“The time is now when we need someone in that chair who’s capable of speaking to our whole community and to also broader Australia and government.”
The new FFA chairman will be elected at an AGM scheduled for Monday the 19th of November.
