AFL milestones: Club-by-club possibilities for 2019

2019-01-25T11:30+11:00

There will be plenty of milestones in the AFL in season 2019.

The 300-game mark could be broken by five players with Eddie Betts, Lance Franklin, David Mundy, Heath Shaw and Scott Pendlebury all set to join an elite list.

However, Collingwood captain Pendlebury may need a touch of luck as he remains 23 games in arrears of 300.

The other four will definitely chalk up 300 as Betts requires five games, Mundy six, Franklin 10 and Shaw 18.

250 will be a popular milestone this year with as many 16 players a chance to reach that mark including Jack Riewoldt, Marc Murphy, Tom Hawkins, Harry Taylor, Dale Thomas, Richard Douglas, Justin Westhoff, Travis Boak, Josh Kennedy and Shannon Hurn, among others.

Based on the player in question avoiding injury or poor form, we’ve put together a club-by-club look at who is in the mix to reach a milestone in 2019.

Adelaide

Eddie Betts will certainly bring up his 300th game early in 2019, most likely in Round 5 against the Suns at the Adelaide Oval. He played 184 games for Carlton.

Richard Douglas looks set to reach 250 games (becoming just the ninth Crow to achieve the milestone) midway through the season while ruckman Sam Jacobs will notch 200 in Round 4.

New co-captain Rory Sloane may also get to 200 if he plays every game and the Crows make the finals.

Brodie Smith will make it to 150 in Round 5 alongside Betts and forward Josh Jenkins is expected to notch 150 in the second half of the season.

There will be 100-game milestones for Matt Crouch (Round 10), Paul Seedsman (Round 12) and Kyle Hartigan (Round 19).
