Gold Coast chairman Tony Cochrane believes the embattled Suns will eventually become a “destination club”.
The expansion side’s on-field struggles have been well documented, culminating in the departure of several key players, including former co-captains Tom Lynch and Steven May.
“I’m a great believer that things turn,” Cochrane told SEN’s Time On.
“I’ve been a part of turning lots of different ventures over my life and I think that our chance will turn and we’ll end up being a destination club.
“You’ve probably got some listeners sitting there rolling around on the floor hysterically laughing.”
Cochrane explained why he is confident Gold Coast can become a club players would want to join in the future.
“We’ve got a world class facility now on the Gold Coast, there’s probably been upwards of half-a-billion dollars spent by local state and federal authorities building what we effectively call Metricon,” Cochrane added.
“The truth is that the new people that are coming up there are just blown away by the facility, so we’ve got that piece absolutely correct.
“I really believe we’ve got the people absolutely correct now, from the top to the bottom and I think we can make a big change in the next three years.
“In many ways Brisbane have shown us the way, they have done a superb job.”
Gold Coast hold picks two, three and six in tonight’s AFL draft and have been tipped to secure talented South Australian duo Jack Lukosius and Izak Rankine.
