Why there's a "watch this space" on Collingwood pair ahead of the trade period

There is a “watch this space” on a couple of Collingwood players ahead of this year's trade period, according to SEN Chief Sports Reporter Sam Edmund.

As the Magpies look to manage reported salary cap issues, Edmund provided an update on Adam Treloar and Brody Mihocek ahead of the upcoming trade and free agency period.

Despite reaffirming his commitment to Collingwood in an interview on AFL 360 last week, Edmund says Treloar’s lucrative contract could be an issue for any opposition side looking to prise him out of the club.

“He hasn’t been told that he’s going to be traded but he hasn’t been reassured either,” Edmund told SEN’s Whateley.

“He’s contracted until 2025 and my understanding is it's more than $800,000 a season for the next four years, not many suitors could absorb that sort of contract.

“According to many from the outside looking in, Collingwood would have to contribute (to paying his salary) if they wanted to trade Adam Treloar.”

Edmund also said that Mihocek was still no closer to putting pen to paper on a new deal.

“I’m told (Brody Mihocek) is no closer to re-signing either,” he said.

“There’s very much a watch this space when it comes to Collingwood.”

The club recently re-signed Josh Daicos, Darcy Moore and Mark Keane to new two-year deals, but forward Jordan De Goey still remains without a contract for 2021.
