Bernie Vince says star Melbourne recruit Steven May has slimmed down during his first pre-season with the Demons, and is ready to attack 2019 like a new man.
Vince, who will step into a developmental role at the Demons after retiring last year, has explained how May has managed to get himself into the best shape of his career.

“He is a ripper, May,” Vince told SEN Breakfast.
“He is just keen to do well. He is another one that hasn’t played finals or had any success at his previous club.
“He is in the best shape he has been. His skinfolds probably weren’t great when he came to the footy club and his running has improved heaps.
“It’s exciting that he was a great player when he probably wasn’t in the best shape he could have been previously.
“Now he is flying. His potential this year could be anything.”
May joined Melbourne during last year’s trade period, after playing 123 games for Gold Coast since 2011 and captaining the club.
