CHECK OUT THE FIRST ROUND PICK ANALYSIS HERE

Pick 23: Jez McLennan (Gold Coast )

Power: He made the national championship South Australian team this year. He’s a defender, a half back who’s very good at running off his man and intercepting the ball.

Pick 24: Ian Hill (GWS)

Power: That’s the specific need GWS have wanted for a couple of years. Hill was the most talented player left in the draft, but slipped back for a number of reasons. He has that x-factor, Hill.

Pick 25: James Rowbottom (Sydney)

Power: James had a really good national championships, he’s the prototype inside midfielder. He’s got some pretty explosive qualities.

Pick 26: Rhylee West (Western Bulldogs)

Power: He’s so good at the contested side of the game, he’s a really combative midfielder and I’m sure he’ll be able to have an impact next year. He’s more explosive than his old man, this kid’s got a little more power than Scotty. He’s got to work on his finishing skills.

Pick 27: Thomas Sparrow (Melbourne)

Power: They’ve gone for the next best contested ball winner in Sparrow, he’s from South Adelaide. A hard, tough in-and-under midfielder who has quick hands at stoppages.

Pick 28: Xavier O’Neill (West Coast)

Power: He’s an inside and outside player, it’s great so see him get his opportunity. Can play on the wing, can play on the inside. His versatility is probably why he’s been chosen by West Coast.

Pick 29: Will Kelly (Collingwood)

Power: A key defender for Vic Metro, he’s a really hard player to get a kick on. Needs to work on his offensive game a bit.

Pick 30: Will Hamill (Adelaide)

Power: He’s a running half back, left footer, really quick, he’s done some really impressive things over the last two years.

Pick 31: Luke Foley (West Coast)

Power: He’s a local boy, a small midfielder from WA. A ball-winning midfielder. He had a really good national championship and has come on really late. He's a penetrating kick with clean hands. He's got some fair athletic capabilities.

Pick 32: Luke Valente (Fremantle)

Power: He’s a terrific person and a great leader this kid. Captained South Australia in the national championships. He’s a really good inside midfielder. He’s put everything into improving himself as a footballer this year. He’s got really good composure with the ball.

Power: He’s from the Oakleigh Chargers, they brought him in after some good school form.

Power: He’s a really good type, he carried WA in the midfield in the national championship. He’s not the biggest on-baller, but he’s going to find his way.

Pick 41: Jack Bytel (St Kilda)

Power: At the end of last year, I thought he was on the fringe of the top 10. He was having a real impact last year. Unfortunately this year he’s had a few back issues, but it’s a really good result. At his best, he could be a really good inside midfielder.

Pick 42: Connor McFadyen (Brisbane)

Power: He’s a midfield come forward who wins the ball at the contest and can hit the scoreboard. He’s a member of the Lions’ academy. His father works for Cricket Australia in high performance. He hasn’t really had a full pre-season. Once he gets that, he’s probably going to go to another level.
