Jack Martin will reportedly receive roughly $2 million over the first two seasons of his contract with Carlton.
The Age is reporting that while Martin has put a $1 million price tag on his head for 2020, he will receive similar money the following year.
The five-year front-loaded deal will be worth approximately $3.1 million, with incentives than could bump it up to $3.5 million.
Structuring the deal in this way makes it difficult for Gold Coast and Melbourne, who are the only teams picking before Carlton in the Pre-Season Draft.
The Suns and Blues were unable to come to an agreement on a trade for the midfielder, with Gold Coast’s desire to play hard ball costing them a future second-round pick.
Carlton now retains the selection and will likely secure Martin for nothing.
