SWAMI ARMY MOMENT #9: HARBHAJAN CLAIMS HISTORIC HAT-TRICK

Australian batsman Ricky Ponting crafted a sensational career-best double-century against India in the Boxing Day Test at the MCG in 2003.

In reply to India’s first innings total of 366, Ponting cracked a mammoth 257 which featured 25 boundaries and shared in a 234-run partnership with opener Matthew Hayden.

Ponting, who was at the peak of his batting powers at the time, scored 1503 runs at an average of over 100 in the calendar year – highlighted by three double-hundreds.

Australia would go on to win the Test by nine wickets and level the series at 1-1, with Ponting deservedly earning man-of-the-match honours.
