AFL releases block of next four rounds

The AFL has today announced the fixture for Rounds 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the 2020 season.

As previously reported, Round 2 will kick off with reigning premiers Richmond meeting Collingwood at the MCG on Thursday, June 11 while taking in the Showdown between Port Adelaide and Adelaide at the Adelaide Oval on the Saturday night. Geelong will host Hawthorn at GMHBA Stadium on Friday night while West Coast and Fremantle, who will be based on the Gold Coast for these four rounds, will take on the Suns and Lions respectively.

Round 3 kicks off with Richmond v Hawthorn on Thursday, June 18 while the Western Bulldogs and GWS rivalry continues at Marvel Stadium on the Friday night. The Crows and Power will have relocated to the Gold Coast following their Round 2 Showdown and will meet the Suns and Dockers respectively.

Round 4 opens up with Sydney v the Bulldogs at the SCG on Thursday, June 25 with the 2019 preliminary final replay between the Giants and Collingwood on the Friday night. The Power will ‘host’ the Eagles at Metricon while Essendon and Carlton will do battle at the MCG on Saturday night.

Round 5 sees West Coast ‘host’ the Tigers at Metricon on Thursday, July 2 before the Magpies and Bombers meet at the MCG on the Friday night.

A standard round will consist of a Thursday night opener, one Friday night game, one game on Saturday afternoon, one Saturday twilight fixture, two games on Saturday night, two games on Sunday afternoon and one Sunday evening match.

Note:

  • West Coast and Fremantle both have one ‘home’ game and three away games each during their time in Queensland.
  • Adelaide and Port Adelaide both have one ‘home’ game and two away games each during their time in Queensland.
