Lloyd’s withering assessment of “liability” Lynch

2019-05-07T10:35+10:00

Essendon great Matthew Lloyd has labelled Richmond forward Tom Lynch a “liability” after his quiet performance against the Western Bulldogs.

The boom Tigers recruit sits equal second in the race for the Coleman Medal with 17 goals, 13 behind GWS spearhead Jeremy Cameron.

Lynch, 26, has booted just one goal and had minimal impact for the Tigers over the last three weeks since kicking a bag of six against Port Adelaide in Round 4.

“He’s a massive concern… he’s turning like I would at the moment as a 41-year-old,” Lloyd said on Sportsday.

“Unless he can mark it or get it lace out - he’s a liability at the moment, Tom Lynch.

“Ground level, defensively, turning… compare him to (Jeremy Cameron) the benchmark, inside 50s all those sorts of things, goal assists - unless he marks it, he’s not effective as a player.”

Lynch joined Richmond from Gold Coast as a free agent on a lucrative multi-year contract during last year’s trade period.
