Sydney's current offer for Daniher revealed

2019-10-14T07:12+11:00

Matthew Lloyd has revealed Sydney’s current offer to Essendon as negotiations unfold for Joe Daniher.

The key forward has requested a trade to the Swans, but the Bombers maintain they will hold him to his contract.

Lloyd says the current offer by Sydney is nowhere near enough to satiate Essendon.

“My belief is, and strong belief is, currently as we sit right now the offer from the Sydney Swans to Essendon is a first and a second-round draft pick,” he told Telstra AFL Trade Radio.

“Their first pick is pick five and their second round is 25. So that is currently the offer the Swans have put to Essendon and it is a flat no.

“As we sit here right now, that has been the offer from the Swans.

“If it is about draft picks, Essendon is not going to take it. It’s about players and about getting players in the door and all of the players have been rejected and knocked back.”

Sydney forward Tom Papley has requested a trade to Carlton, with the Blues reportedly willing to part with pick nine for him.

However, Lloyd doesn’t believe the Bombers are interested in a package of picks five and nine for Daniher either.

“They (Sydney) want to deal in picks and Essendon is not interested in picks so we are at a standstill at the moment,” he said.

“I asked that question to people around Essendon and still five and nine, that doesn’t interest them either.

“Unless a player is involved and a quality player, I don’t see this deal being done.”
