Mason Cox learns tribunal fate

2019-04-02T18:39+11:00

Collingwood ruckman Mason Cox has beaten his one match ban for colliding with Richmond defender Dylan Grimes.

The charge has been downgraded to a $3000 fine.

Cox was given a week for the off-ball bump, a decision that has sparked debate all around the football community.

MRO Michael Christian suspending the American led SEN Chief Broadcaster Gerard Whateley to suggest he had “lost the football public”.

There’s no way that’s a reportable offence. Cox didn’t do anything wrong. It’s not even a free kick,” Whateley told AFL Nation.

“In 10 games, Michael Christian has completely lost the football public.”

Richmond doctor Greg Hickey aided Cox, saying Grimes did not suffer a concussion from the incident.

The AFL Tribunal throwing the case out allows Cox to line up for the Pies in this week’s Grand Final rematch against West Coast.
