Fremantle provides trade updates on Cerra and Clark, reiterates Lobb stance

Fremantle GM of Football Peter Bell has provided trade updates on Adam Cerra and Jordan Clark.

The Dockers are negotiating a deal with Carlton for Cerra, while looking to secure Clark’s signature in a trade with Geelong.

Bell also reiterated the club’s desire to retain contracted ruck-forward Rory Lobb.

Adam Cerra

“That’s the ballpark (pick 6 and a future second-rounder for a future third-rounder).

“Carlton have been fantastic to deal with so far and we’re confident we’ll get there.

“If we’re able to get those (top 10) picks, we’d like to take them to the draft to add a couple of other younger players to the nucleus of players that we have right now.”

Jordan Clark

“As Jordan’s contracted, Geelong has every right to negotiate really hard.

“We would love to bring Jordan in, and Jordan has indicated to Geelong and to us that he’d like to move to Fremantle.

“It does fill a need for us with his run, speed and other attributes.

“I wouldn’t say the negotiations are as close as what things are between Fremantle and Carlton at the moment with regards to Adam.

“It’s about making sure that something satisfactory is done for Geelong, who of course hold a contracted player.

“I’m quite confident that we’ll be able to come to an arrangement with Geelong.

“I don’t know the exact ins and outs of it (contract offer to Clark), but I think it’ll be around a four-year contract, provided we’re able to get the deal done.”

Rory Lobb

“There was obviously a bit of noise through the latter part of the year that Rory was potentially looking to explore his options.

“We had a really positive end-of-season meeting where he discussed and committed to really working on his game and particularly working on his ruck work as well, which he thought he’d been a little inconsistent in.

“At that time, we reiterated to Rory that he was a very important player for us, we’re not flushed with tall forwards at the moment, forward-rucks are in high-demand and are difficult to find.

“We just said that if you are exploring and wanting to look around, it’ll be highly unlikely that there will be a deal that we’d agree to for the reasons I just articulated.”
