2019-11-20T09:52+11:00

Tottenham Hotspur have sacked manager Mauricio Pochettino after a poor start to the Premier League season.

They’ve won just three matches from 12 to start to the season and languish in 14th spot on the table.

The decision comes just five months since the Argentine took Spurs to the Champions League final, which they lost 2-0 to Liverpool,” club chairman Daniel Levy said in a statement.

"We were extremely reluctant to make this change and it is not a decision the Board has taken lightly.

“Regrettably domestic results at the end of last season and beginning of this season have been extremely disappointing.

“It falls to the Board to make the difficult decisions - this one made more so given the many memorable moments we have had with Mauricio and his coaching staff - but we do so in the Club's best interests.”

Former Manchester United and Chelsea boss José Mourinho is reportadly in talks to take over the vacant head coaching role, according to Sky Sports.

Tottenham have finished in the top four of the Premier League for the past four seasons under Pochettino but already sit 11 points outside of the top four this season.

His coaching staff consisting of Jesus Perez, Miguel D’Agostino and Antoni Jimenez will also depart the club.
