Crows confirm Orazio Fantasia's desire to return home

Adelaide Head of Football Adam Kelly has provided an update on a number of trade situations revolving around the club.

Kelly confirmed Kane Cornes’ report from earlier in the year that Essendon forward Orazio Fantasia wishes to come back to the state.

“We understand he wants to come back to South Australia,” he told SEN SA Breakfast.

“Any player that’s gone interstate who wants to return home we’re keen to talk to and understand what their motivations are.

“We’re just not sure where that one will lie and how that will play out, but we’re always keen to talk to South Australians who want to come home.”

With Fantasia’s last few seasons derailed by ongoing injury issues, Kelly said they would take that into account before committing to the livewire.

“As you’d imagine there would be some obvious concern there. I think he’s played 33 games over the last three years, so he’s had some durability issues,” he said.

“If we went down that path our medical team would make a thorough assessment because that obviously is an area of risk, but hopefully for Orazio it’s something that can be managed and he can get back to the footy he was playing (at his best).”

Brad Crouch is one of the highest profile free agents on the market, with Kelly saying they’re expecting his management to present offers in the near future.

“I think that’ll come (a decision from Brad Crouch). Brad and his management will present any offer they’ve received from other clubs through their decision,” Kelly said.

“As is the way with restricted free agency, we’ll sit there and consider those offers and whether we’re going to be in position to match.

“The status hasn’t really changed, but we’re drawing closer to those offers being presented.”

GWS midfielder Jackson Hately requested a trade to the Crows last week, something Kelly said the club is incredibly excited about.

“We’re really pleased (that he’s requested a trade to us). Our guys have followed him closely since his draft year in 2018 and Matthew Nicks was involved with the Giants and got to work with them closely,” he said.

“He’s a great character, he’s something different for our midfield mix being a 190cm midfielder. He works incredibly hard and comes from a wonderful family in South Australia.

“We’re confident we’ll get a deal done there.”
