Port release statement on Dougal Howard

2019-10-10T08:03+11:00

Port Adelaide has released a statement concerning the trade status of Dougal Howard.

It was reported yesterday that Howard was seeking a trade away from the Power, with St Kilda his desired destination.

The club confirmed that Howard has requested a trade, but they are reluctant to move him.

Port’s Football General Manager Chris Davies said that they had every intention of keeping hold of the 23-year old.

“Dougal is aware that he is a highly valued, required player at Port Adelaide,” Davies said to the club website.

“Given he is contracted to the end of 2022, the club will only entertain a trade with St Kilda if it is in our best interests to do so.

“We will discuss the situation with the Saints but if a suitable outcome for our club cannot be reached, Dougal is well aware that he will remain a Port Adelaide player in 2020.”

Howard has played 45 games in his five years at Port and has featured both up forward and in the backline.
