Port Adelaide is set to go with one captain for the 2020 season.
The Power will celebrate their 150th anniversary next year and in doing so, will revert back to their tradition of having a stand-alone skipper.
It is being reported that Tom Jonas will be appointed as the sole captain with Ollie Wines to step down from the joint role he held in 2019.
Power legend Warren Tredrea and journalist Tom Rehn reported the news on Channel 9 Adelaide on Thursday night.
“A massive development out of Port Adelaide tonight with the club bowing to the pressure of fans and ditching the controversial co-captaincy model,” Tredrea said.
“I can reveal that Tom Jonas will be officially installed as the club’s sole captain as early as tomorrow (Friday) and taking on the traditional number one guernsey from 2020.”

Rehn added: “They went with this co-captaincy model which was controversial at the time so the fact they’re doing this is significant.
“After they did that co-captaincy model they haven’t had the year they would have liked and a lot of fans did vent their anger and displeasure at the fact they went with the co-captains.
“We are expecting Tom Jonas to be announced as the captain as early as tomorrow which would be significant.
“You feel that it will be a popular decision amongst a lot of the supporters.”
Port Adelaide had always had one captain who would wear jumper number one but went away from the tradition for the first time in 2019.
