Daniels says Neale, 28, is keen to raise his family with wife Jules in Western Australia, hence the pending request.
The 2020 Brownlow Medallist is currently contracted with the Lions through til 2023, meaning a suitable trade offer would need to be put forward by the Dockers this off-season to facilitate the move.
Neale was originally drafted by Fremantle in 2011, and would go on to play 135 games for the club where he claimed two Doig Medals as the Dockers’ club champion.
He requested a trade to the Lions at the end of the 2018 season, and has starred under Chris Fagan for the past three years playing 60 outstanding games for the club.
Neale earned dual All-Australian honours in his first two seasons at the club as well as winning both the Brownlow Medal and Leigh Matthews Trophy for AFL MVP in 2020.
