Brown management seeking four-year North Melbourne deal

2020-03-03T08:41+11:00

Ben Brown and his management remain in negotiations with North Melbourne regarding a new deal.

SEN’s Chief Sports Reporter Sam Edmund says the star full-forward and his manager Adam Ramanuaskas are seeking a four-year deal with the Kangaroos, who at this stage, are only prepared to offer three.

Brown, who is currently battling a calf problem, comes out of contract at the end of this season.

“He’s got that calf issue at the moment so he does have his hands full,” Edmund said on SEN Breakfast.

“But in the background the 27-year-old is negotiating with North Melbourne. He wants four (years), they are only willing to offer three.

“At this stage it would be about $700-800,000 a season. He’s booted the most goals in the competition across a three-year period, 21 more than next best. He’s a pretty underrated player.

“He has a dodgy knee but his longevity has been amazing, even if he has that calf at the moment (as well).

“That would take him to 32 in the last year of that contract if he got the four years.

“He loves it though, it’s hard to see him leaving North Melbourne.

“But these are the things that happen all the time in negotiations. You get to little crossroad moments. They are at one at the moment where he and his manager Adam Ramanauskas are going for the four (years).

“It would be a huge shock if he departs.”

Brown has kicked 279 goals in 121 games for the Roos, including 188 over the past three seasons.
