“Incredible”: Postecoglou’s Celtic destroy Rangers to go top

2022-02-03T08:50+11:00

Celtic has moved to the top of the Scottish Premier League for the first time this season after destroying bitter rivals Rangers 3-0 on Thursday morning (AEDT).

Trailing their Glasgow rivals by two points heading into the clash at Parkhead, Ange Postecoglou’s side came out firing, scoring three first-half goals to send the home crowd in raptures.

Reo Hatate, a January acquisition from J-League club Kawasaki Frontale, netted a brace before turning provider, setting up Liel Abada who added a third just before half-time.

The home side dug in after half-time to secure the all-important three points and give Postecoglou his first win over Rangers in a Glasgow Derby.

It snapped Celtic’s six-match winless run against their arch-rivals and moved the Bhoys one-point clear at the summit of the Scottish Premiership with a 10-goal better goal difference.

With 14 games remaining, the title race in Scotland is set to go down to the wire.
