Socceroos coach Graham Arnold has officially named his 26-man squad for the FIFA World Cup in Qatar which kicks off later this month.
While most of the names were considered locks, hot form has seen Central Coast Mariners pair Garang Kuol and Jason Cummings bolt into the squad.
On the other end, experienced goalkeeper Mitch Langerak was surprisingly omitted, with Mat Ryan, Danny Vukovic and playoff hero Andrew Redmayne named as Arnold’s three stoppers.
The other notable omissions were of Tom Rogic, Trent Sainsbury and Adam Taggart, with the trio consistent squad members for much of Australia’s qualifying run.
Australia has been drawn in Group D alongside France, Tunisia and Denmark, with the Socceroos’ first game coming against the French in Al Wakrah on Saturday, November 23 (AEDT).
