Report: Four Victorian regions being considered for AFL quarantine hubs

2020-04-23T16:08+10:00

Four regions of Victoria are reportedly being considered for AFL quarantine hubs, according to AFL Media’s Damian Barrett.

Suggestions in the last few days have been that if footy does return, it will have to start in these hubs in isolated areas where they can hopefully keep COVID-19 out.

Barrett revealed the four regions being considered are the Mornington Peninsula, Surf Coast, Yarra Valley and the Macedon precinct.

The AFL is steadfast on playing another 144 matches to complete the 2020 season, though fans will not be in attendance.

The report goes on to suggest the hubs will cost the AFL tens of millions of dollars to operate, paying accommodation costs for upwards of 700 players and hundreds of other staff.

Garry Lyon told SEN Breakfast on Thursday morning that he is hearing mid-July for the return of footy.
