SEN Chief Sports Reporter Sam Edmund has revealed that Fox Footy is set to call all games outside of Victoria off the television in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak.
Edmund reports that Fox does not want their staff travelling interstate and will be using their Victorian studio to call games.
“I’ve heard a whisper, and Fox do such an amazing job of covering footy around the country all season long in every stadium that we have, now I’m hearing that because of the coronavirus, all games outside of Victoria will be called off the TV back here in the studio,” Edmund told SEN’s Dwayne’s World.
Fox Footy commentator Dwayne Russell admitted he was unaware of the situation, but says he is awaiting a call from his boss at Fox Footy regarding the situation.
“I’ve been told nothing, but I received a text minutes ago from my boss (at Fox Footy) saying (give me a call after radio) so I’ll get an update then,” Russell said.
Hearing Fox Footy plan to call all games outside Victoria from the Melbourne studio. No interstate travel. Of course, it's only a small part of a world that is changing by the hour, but it's about to get very real here.
