Ball in Adelaide's court as Swans float Dawson trade options

2021-10-08T15:25+11:00

SYDNEY and Adelaide continue to search for common ground on the future of Jordan Dawson as the clubs throw up a range of options.

Under one proposal put forward, Adelaide would part with Melbourne’s future first round pick that the Crows acquired in Wednesday’s multi-club trade.

The Swans would then send their future first round pick and future second round pick to the Crows, who would hand over their future first and future second round picks.

Sydney is understood to like that deal, which based on this year’s ladder positions is more likely to favour them at the end of 2022.

The ball sits in Adelaide’s court when it comes to this scenario.

The Swans have also floated a trade whereby they would send Dawson and their pick 12 to the Crows in exchange for pick 4.

Adelaide have been steadfast in their refusal to involve their first draft pick in the Dawson deal and are instead determined to take it to this year’s national draft.

The threat of taking Dawson via pre-season draft remains the Crows’ safety blanket in negotiations.
