Melbourne star Petracca responds to reported Collingwood link

2021-04-07T07:35+10:00

Christian Petracca says he has no intention of leaving Melbourne.

It comes after Collingwood great Tony Shaw said the Magpies will target Petracca either at season’s end or when he comes out of contract in 2022.

Petracca, 25, was asked whether he wants to stay at the Demons beyond his current deal.

“Yeah, I do. I love the club,” he told Fox Footy’s AFL 360.

“Being a one-club player is pretty special.”

Shaw believes Petracca is the type of player Collingwood needs and that his current contract “doesn’t mean a hell of a lot”.

“I did see it (the report). It’s all noise,” Petracca said.

“I’m contracted for two years. At the moment we’re 3-0 and that’s all I really care about, is winning games of footy.

“I’ve been at the club for six or seven years now and I give so much back to the club. I’ve created so many friendships.

“I’m there for two more years. At the moment we’re playing great footy. We’re 3-0. The club’s in great form, and we’ve just got to keep going.”

Petracca is averaging 27 disposals and a goal a game so far in 2021.
