Swans draftee tipped to better Rowell’s debut season

Sydney has big wraps on draftee Braeden Campbell.

The Swans successfully nabbed Campbell with pick No.5 in last year’s draft, matching a bid from Hawthorn to secure their talented Academy prospect.

Tim Watson has received nothing but positive feedback about the 19-year-old with a source telling the Essendon great that he’ll make a significant impact in his debut season.

Watson and Garry Lyon discussed the prodigious Swan on SEN Breakfast.

Lyon: “You said that your man said that he has found a player that he thinks is better than Matthew Rowell.”

Watson: “And will have more impact in his first season than Matthew Rowell. That’s if he stays on his feet.”

“He’s watched this kid for a while. This is 100 per cent fair dinkum.

“He said that he will play across half-back for Sydney, his name is Braden Campbell, and somebody up there said that he is the best kick that he has seen in the AFL.”

Lyon: “And the bloke who said this has seen some of the best kicks in the game – ever.”

Watson: “And he may be considered one of the best kicks himself that we’ve ever seen.”

“Get excited Sydney Swans fans.”

Campbell kicked three goals from 14 disposals to be named best afield in last year’s NAB All Stars 'Futures' game.
