Collingwood list manager quits after turbulent off-season

2021-05-06T16:23+10:00

Ned Guy has quit as Collingwood list manager.

Guy, who oversaw the club’s controversial salary cap dump in last year’s trade period, notified the Magpies of his decision to resign on Thursday.

Collingwood football manager Graham Wright will replace Guy on a caretaker basis until a replacement is identified.

Guy will step away from his position after the mid-season draft on June 2.

“We’re disappointed to be losing Ned. His experience as a player manager and list manager, along with his finance background, have been invaluable,” Wright said in a club statement.

“Recalibrating our player payments structure was a tough and necessary job. Our future payments profile is healthier in large part to him. In years to come his achievements will become clearer.

“I’m pleased he can stay with us until after the draft – he will always be welcome at Collingwood - and as disappointed as we are to be losing him I wish him well on his new direction.”

Guy has served as Collingwood’s list boss since 2017.
