The opposition captain that your club would love to recruit

Which AFL captain from another team would your club love to recruit?

We asked the majority of skippers which opposing captain they’d like most to have with them at their club.

There were some interesting answers with one captain in particular standing out above the rest.

See the answers below:

BRISBANE: “I really admire the way James Sicily goes about it. I’d love to play alongside him,” said Harris Andrews.

“He’s an unbelievable footballer who obviously played in the backline as well, so I’d love to play with him.”

CARLTON: “I reckon big ‘Gawny’ (Max Gawn). As in inside mid I love the rucks that hit it down our throat,” said Patrick Cripps.

COLLINGWOOD: “They’re all so good, but maybe Toby Greene. Marcus Bontempelli would be handy too, but I’ll go with Toby Greene,” said Darcy Moore.

ESSENDON: “It’s hard to narrow down. From a selfish point of view I’d love to play with ‘The Bont’ (Bontempelli) or ‘Crippa’ (Cripps) as another mid,” said Zach Merrett.

“With their size and ability to get the ball out, it would be pretty special.”

FREMANTLE:Connor Rozee has probably got a fair few years left in him, he’d be handy. Or Oscar Allen so I wouldn’t have to play on him anymore,” said Alex Pearce.

GOLD COAST: “I’d wanna take them all, but I think Marcus Bontempelli would be up there,” said Touk Miller.

GWS GIANTS: “I’ll go Zach Merrett. He’s a mate from the Sandringham Dragons and we used to wax a little bit back in the day,” said Josh Kelly.

HAWTHORN: “There’s a lot of good players, but probably ‘The Bont’ (Bontempelli),” said James Sicily.

MELBOURNE: “We need a midfielder now Angus (Brayshaw) has retired. So Touk Miller, I love Touk,” said Max Gawn.

PORT ADELAIDE: “I’d take ‘The Bont’ (Bontempelli),” said Connor Rozee.

RICHMOND: “‘The Bont’ (Bontempelli), I reckon,” said Toby Nankervis.

ST KILDA: “It would be nice to play alongside ‘Crippa’ (Cripps) or ‘Bont’ (Bontempelli) in the midfield,” said Jack Steele.

SYDNEY: “I wouldn’t mind ‘Cripps’ (Cripps),” sad Callum Mills.

WEST COAST: “It’s a pretty good list. It would be nice to have Patty Cripps. He’s a WA boy, get him back home,” said Oscar Allen.

Note: Adelaide’s Jordan Dawson, Geelong’s Patrick Dangerfield, North Melbourne’s Jy Simpkin and Western Bulldogs’ Marcus Bontempelli were unable to be reached for comment.
